Just about the only positive numbers in Laughlin in November were that room rates went up over last year. Every category regarding visitors and revenue went down, according to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority.
There was an 11 percent drop in total visitors compared to November of 2007. There were 229,191 visitors in 2007 and there were 204,022 in ’08.
Those visitors did not gamble as much as the year before either. There was an 18 percent drop in gaming revenue. In November 2007 gambling revenue was $51,037,000 and in ’08 revenue fell to $41,280,000.
Total room nights dropped from 208,893 to 193,105. Convention attendance fell 27 percent from 12,177 to 8,907. And visitors who came through the Laughlin/Bullhead airport fell 12 percent from 24,794 to 21,786.
